The first trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord unleashes the fury of the fallen Sith as he forges a new path in the galaxy far, far away…
Look out, Star Wars fans, because Lucasfilm just dropped the first trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. The upcoming animated series follows Maul between the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Cast aside by his Sith Master, Darth Sidious, and forged from the fire of the Clone Wars, Maul – Shadow Lord reintroduces Maul as we’ve never seen him before. Based on the first trailer, fans can look forward to a rollercoaster ride of Star Wars awesomeness. From Maul’s battle with Inquisitors to his decimating legions of Imperial Stormtroopers, this series is a relative feast for the eyes. But don’t take my word for it. Take a look at the teaser trailer below.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord was created by Dave Filoni, based on Star Wars and characters created by George Lucas. The series is developed by Dave Filoni and Matt Michnovetz. Brad Rau is the supervising director. The executive producers are Dave Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes. Alex Spotswood is the co-executive producer.

POSTER
If the brutal and intoxicating first trailer isn’t enough to have you reaching for a lightsaber, Lucasfilm also dropped the first poster for the series. The glorious one-sheets features Maul basking in the magnificent red hues associated with his Dathomir heritage. But leading the charge are Maul’s piercing yellow eyes that harbor so much hatred for the galaxy that shunned him… to its detriment. Check it out.

RELEASE
What a phenomenal first trailer. The series features stylized animation emblematic of the gritty new cityscape locale of Janix, combined with old-school filmmaking methods to capture painterly brushstrokes on glass and other physical elements. The combination makes the series a gloriously atmospheric extravaganza that is a shoo-in to land with Star Wars everywhere.
With 10 episodes arriving over five weeks, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord begins with a two-episode premiere on Disney+ on April 6, 2026, followed by two episodes each week, culminating in a finale on Star Wars Day, May the 4th.
