BFI Distribution Releases The Brand New UK Trailer For Rose Of Nevada

Starring George MacKay and Callum Turner. Directed by Mark Jenkin, Rose Of Nevada gets a new trailer from BFI Distribution. This comes ahead of its April release.

BFI Distribution today reveals the brand-new UK trailer and poster for award-winning Cornish director Mark Jenkin’s third feature film, the time-travelling Rose of Nevada. The film stars George MacKay (For Those in Peril, Femme, 1917) and Callum Turner (Eternity, The Boys in the Boat, Masters of the Air). The film will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 24 April 2026. A BFI Blu-ray and BFI Player release will follow in the summer. Meanwhile, a localised version of the same trailer is simultaneously released today in the US by distributor 1-2 Special. The distributor will open the film on 19 June.

THE PREMISE

When a fishing boat, the Rose of Nevada, lost with all hands 30 years ago, mysteriously reappears in the old harbour of a forgotten Cornish village, it is surely a sign for those who remember. Therefore, the boat must go out to sea again, and maybe then the luck of the devastated village will turn. Young father Nick (George MacKay) needs a job to provide for his family. Enigmatic newcomer Liam (Callum Turner) is desperate to escape his past. They join Captain Murgey (Francis Magee) and head out to sea. However, when they return, satisfied with their haul, something is amiss. They’ve slipped back in time to 1993, and the villagers greet them as if they are the original crew.

MARK JENKIN

Rose of Nevada follows Mark Jenkin’s BAFTA award-winning first feature, Bait (2019), and Enys Men (2022). Unique among British feature filmmakers for the analogue way in which he crafts his films, once again Jenkin is the writer, director, director of photography and editor – he also handled sound design and composed the original score. Made in Cornwall, Jenkin shot all features on 16mm film using a Bolex clockwork camera. Additionally, he added all dialogue and sound in post-production.

The film had its world premiere in August 2025 at the Venice International Film Festival, followed by its UK premiere in the Official Competition at the BFI London Film Festival.

Rose of Nevada arrives in UK and Irish cinemas on April 24, 2026. In the lead-up to its release, the team will kick off a 3-week director Q&A tour across the UK, with venues and dates to be revealed in March.
