THE OFFICIAL UK TOP TEN BESTSELLING MOVIES

This week sees three new entries into the chart placings. Two are new films that have debuted on PVOD, while one is a classic that has been given a new lease of life. But what are these newbies, and where have they entered the chart? It is time for us to find out.

(1) ZOOTROPOLIS 2

Claiming the top spot, Zootropolis 2 (Walt Disney) continues its animated success story. Reuniting Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for another fast-paced case in the sprawling animal metropolis, the sequel expands its vibrant world with new characters, sharper humour and a mystery that challenges the duo’s partnership like never before.

(2) PREDATOR: BADLANDS

Close behind at Number 2, Predator – Badlands (Walt Disney) keeps the sci-fi action intense. Set in a remote and unforgiving landscape, the latest chapter in the franchise strips the concept back to survival basics, pitting human ingenuity against the ultimate extraterrestrial hunter.

(3) SINNERS

Holding strong at Number 3, Sinners (Warner Home Video) maintains its powerful chart presence. Starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers confronting a sinister force in their hometown, the thriller blends slow-burn tension with moral complexity and psychological depth.

(4) DOGMA

Making a striking appearance at Number 4, Dogma (Visions Home Video) returns to the spotlight. Kevin Smith’s cult fantasy-comedy follows two fallen angels attempting to exploit a loophole in Catholic doctrine, sparking a chaotic cross-country adventure filled with irreverent humour and theological satire.

(5) 28 YEARS LATER

At Number 5, 28 Years Later (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) continues its haunting post-apocalyptic saga. Decades after societal collapse, the film explores how humanity has evolved in the shadow of infection, balancing raw horror with themes of survival and generational legacy.

(7) WICKED: FOR GOOD

Now at Number 7, Wicked – For Good (Universal Pictures) keeps the magic alive. The musical sequel deepens the divide between Elphaba and Glinda as Oz edges toward upheaval, pairing darker emotional stakes with spectacular musical sequences.

(9) SONG SUNG BLUE

Debuting at Number 9, Song Sung Blue (Focus Features) brings heartfelt musical drama into the mix. Inspired by real events, the film centres on a tribute act whose dedication to performance becomes a moving exploration of love, ambition and second chances.

(10) NOW YOU SEE ME, NOW YOU DON’T

Rounding out the Top 10, Now You See Me Now You Don’t (Lionsgate) conjures up slick entertainment. The latest instalment in the heist franchise reunites illusionists for another globe-trotting caper, combining elaborate stagecraft, twists and high-stakes deception.

CAN HAMNET STEAL THE TOP SPOT NEXT WEEK, ALONG WITH OUR HEARTS?

That’s all she wrote for this week. However, what many of my fellow film critics and I consider to be the best film of last year, Hamnet, is now available on PVOD. The film dramatises the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes Hathaway, as they cope with the death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet. Jessie Buckley is a shoo-in for the best actress Oscar at next month’s ceremony, and she totally and unequivocally deserves it. Make sure you stock up on the tissues before you sit down with it, you’ll need them before the end of the film.

Can Hamnet steal the top spot from Zootropolis 2 next week? There’s only one way to find out, and you know what to do. So, until next time…

Whatever you decide, whatever you buy, stay safe, be kind, look after each other, and happy viewing!!
