Look out, Robin Hood fans, because the gripping adventures in Sherwood Forest will continue into season 2!
Reload your quiver, Robin Hood fans, because the glorious series on MGM+ will be back for another season. The streamer has confirmed that the 10-episode second season will go into production at PFI Studios in Serbia this summer and will continue the plot threads left open in the first-season finale.
The sensational first season climaxed with Rob vanquishing the Sheriff of Nottingham’s forces, while the Sheriff eliminated the threats to his rule within his inner circle. All the while, Prince John left London to seek the pope’s support, leaving Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine to plot his downfall. So, where will Season 2 take us?

A NEW SEASON
Season two of Robin Hood expands the world beyond Sherwood and Nottingham into the treacherous courts of England, France, and Rome, transforming the outlaw rebellion into a high-stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom. As the Angevin empire threatens to tear itself apart, Rob and Marian are drawn into the orbit of kings and queens, forced to wield the very instruments of Norman power — politics, gold, and betrayal — to secure a future for the Saxons. What begins as a fight for survival becomes a reckoning with power itself. Sweeping in scope yet intimate in emotion, Season two deepens the romance, sharpens the rivalries, and reimagines the legend as a prestige drama about love, legacy, and the price of becoming history.
This sounds like a heavenly slice of British drama. With its devoted cast, the new season promises to be another glorious character study of Rob and his star-crossed, but fierce lover, Marian. When we sat down with the duo to discuss the first season, their excitement for the roles was obvious from the start. Hit play on our interview below.
CREATIVE EXCITEMENT
“Robin Hood quickly became one of our top-performing original series of all time, and the response from our audiences both in the U.S. and abroad has been exceptional,” said Michael Wright, global head of MGM+. “We’re thrilled to continue this epic adventure for a second season. John Glenn, Jonathan English, and the entire creative team have reimagined this legendary tale with remarkable depth and authenticity, and we can’t wait to see where they take us next.”
“The passionate response to Robin Hood is a testament to the creative vision behind the series and to its powerful connection with audiences worldwide,” said Jocelyn Sabo, executive vice president of scripted television development at Lionsgate. “We’re excited to continue our partnership with MGM+ and Todd Lieberman and to support John Glenn, Jonathan English, and the entire creative team as they build on this momentum. The second season will raise the stakes and deepen the emotional journeys at the heart of this enduring story.”

SEASON ONE REVIEW
This is awesome news. The first season of the show was a breath of fresh air, injecting the Robin Hood lore with gritty character depth. In fact, in my glowing review, I said, “Jonathan English’s Robin Hood is nothing short of sensational. The series delivers a refreshingly grounded adaptation of the legend, coupled with the trademark swashbuckling the story is famous for. The result is a glorious ten-episode rollercoaster ride that takes us beyond the myth and adds new layers to the man behind the hood. With its glorious cinematography, exceptional production value, winning performances from its leads, and seasoned brilliance of its legacy stars, the series is the definitive adaptation of the source material.
The series makes the most of its nearly 10-hour runtime by thoroughly developing each character within its lore and expanding the legends in rich detail. From Little John to Friar Tuck and the Sheriff of Nottingham to Will Gamewell (aka Will Scarlett), every member of the lore is explored and presented with energetic freshness-and the result is intoxicating.” Read my full review here.

But with the main cast all returning and creatives all returning for more adventures in Sherwood, the adventures of Robin of Locksley are far from over – and that is worth celebrating!
