The Final Two Original Songs From Scream 7 Are Now Available

Scream 7 features original songs from top artists, including Jessie Murph and Stella Lefty. Listen to their original songs from the film here.

Every movie, no matter what genre it is, needs a great soundtrack. Whether it’s something that just needs a score and no songs, one that relies on strong song choice, or one that combines the two, a film isn’t anything without music. The great news is that Marco Beltrami returned to score Scream 7 for the first time since scoring the first four movies. He took over from Brian Tyler. Brian Tyler composed the score for the last two films. But, of course, the Scream films are synonymous with a terrific collection of songs. These songs enhance the blood, gore, and storytelling on screen. And the new film is no exception.

Throughout February, the film’s original songs have been released. The artists for these songs include Jessie Murph, Stella Lefty, Sueco, and Ice Nine Kills, with a song that features star McKenna Grace. Today sees the release of the final two original songs from the film, Criminal by Jessie Murph, and The Kill by Stella Lefty. You can listen to the songs at the links below:

THE PREMISE

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past. She needs to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

It's A Family Affair on the Latest Poster for Scream 7

The new movie is directed by the franchise’s creator, Kevin Williamson, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guy Busick, from a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick. After the success of the sixth film in the series, we all expected to see the sequel in cinemas sooner. Of course, things never pan out the way you expect. After the firing of Melissa Barrera, the departure of Jenna Ortega, and the departures of Scream (2022) and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Christopher Landon stepped in. However, he decided to walk away as well.

Neve Campbell, left, and Courteney Cox star in Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group’s “Scream 7.”

I saw the film at a press screening earlier this week. While it isn’t the worst or the weakest film in the franchise, I found it to be lacking, saying in my review:

“While it’s not the weakest of the franchise, Scream 7 looks and feels tired. Ghostface has finally lost his cutting edge in a sadly predictable way. The wit is still there, but the formula has grown weaker. Instead of being a must-see horror movie for the ages, it becomes simply an enjoyable, amiable slasher film, which we pay our money to see people get killed in horrendous ways. In that respect, we do get our money’s worth, but it doesn’t grip us as it should. Suspense has gone out of the window, replaced by predictable set-ups that don’t scare us as they should.”
