Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas star in John Carney’s musical comedy, Power Ballad. Check out the official trailer and new images for the movie here.
Get ready to rock out with Power Ballad!
Some songs come with strings attached. POWER BALLAD made its World Premiere on Sunday, March 1, at Dublin’s stunning Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. It served as the Closing Night Gala of the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF). It marked a milestone moment, as the festival presented its finale in the iconic venue for the first time. Writer/Director/Producer John Carney was in attendance. Additionally, stars Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas also joined the film’s celebratory debut.
Bringing the film to Dublin held a particular significance for Carney, as the story is set largely in Ireland, making this hometown premiere an especially meaningful launch for both the filmmakers and the city. Following its World Premiere, POWER BALLAD will now head to SXSW for its North American Premiere on Saturday, March 14, before opening nationwide in theatres on June 5.
In advance of the film’s highly anticipated debut, Lionsgate are thrilled to share the official trailer for the movie.
PREMISE
When Rick (Paul Rudd), a past-his-prime wedding singer, meets fading boy-band star Danny (Nick Jonas) during a gig, the two bond over music and a late-night jam session. But when Danny turns one of Rick’s songs into the hit that reignites his career, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves – even if it means risking everything he cares about. From writer-director John Carney (Sing Street, Once), POWER BALLAD is a feel-good story about music, self-respect, friendship, and the price of ambition.
