Old Habits Never Die With The Teaser Trailer And Date Announcement For Jack Ryan: Ghost War

John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly return alongside newbie Sienna Miller in the teaser trailer for Prime Video’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War.

Welcome back, Jack! We’ve missed you. On May 20th, we will learn that old habits never die. Prime Video brings us back into the world of Jack Ryan. Tom Clancy’s reluctant hero returns in an all-new feature film, Jack Ryan: Ghost War. After four successful seasons on Prime, this feature film finds our relatable hero Jack Ryan pulled back into the world of espionage. This is his most personal and dangerous mission yet.

Set on a global stage, this intelligent thriller blends sharp storytelling with high-stakes action. John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce, and Michael Kelly return in this dynamic new movie. The characters and relationships made audiences fall in love with the series over four seasons. Additionally, Sienna Miller joins the cast as MI6 officer Emma Marlowe. She proves every bit as sharp and savvy as Jack Ryan, forming an unstoppable duo. The teaser trailer for the film has exploded out from Prime Video today.

THE PREMISE

In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy. This forces him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce). Their combined experience is the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner – razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) – Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal. They are facing a past they thought was long put to rest. Making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them has ever faced.

THOUGHTS

This is the Jack Ryan I like, a harder-edged one, akin to the Harrison Ford portrayal of the character in Patriot Games. Though I won’t take anything away from Alec Baldwin’s interpretation in The Hunt For Red October (his version fitted that particular story), it was the nastier, more adult version that I prefer. The four seasons of the series on Prime Video had me falling in love with the character all over again, as Krasinski’s portrayal was a winning and highly enjoyable one. With the new film bringing Krasinski back as the character, and with his contribution to the screenplay, fans like me could be in for a Jack Ryan movie for the ages. And that is an exciting prospect for fans and non-fans alike.
