The Live-Action Remake Of Moana Rides In On A Wave To Say You're Welcome With The Official Trailer And New Poster

Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as Maui, and Catherine Laga’aia is Moana in Disney’s live-action remake of the animated classic, Moana. The official trailer and new poster are here!

This summer, it is once again time to say “You’re welcome”, this time in live-action! Disney is bringing the classic animated movie into the real world on July 18th. In fact, today, the company has revealed an all-new trailer and poster for Disney’s highly anticipated reimagining of “Moana.” The movie stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as the wayfinder Moana and Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as the trickster demigod Maui. Besides Lagaʻaia and Johnson, the cast includes John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui. Frankie Adams portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina. Additionally, Rena Owen appears as Moana’s revered Gramma Tala. Let’s say Aloha to the official trailer below:

But that’s not all. In addition, an “Artistry of Moana” featurette offers a special behind-the-scenes look at the film’s production. It includes commentary from Dwayne Johnson, Catherine Lagaʻaia, director Thomas Kail, costume designer Liz McGregor, and choreographer Tiana Nonosina Liufau. Again, it’s time to say Aloha!

BEHIND THE FILM

Disney’s reimagining of the beloved Oscar-nominated animated adventure is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”); produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films “Moana” and “Moana 2.” “Moana” features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, and an original score composed by Mancina. Audiences can experience the brilliant cinematic sights, sounds, and songs of “Moana” exclusively in cinemas July 10, 2026.
