Get ready this summer for a real Hugh-Dunnit (Kudos to whoever came up with that one!). Hitting theaters on May 8th is the charming family comedy mystery, The Sheep Detectives. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and written by Craig Mazin. It is based on the 2005 novel Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. It tells the tale of a flock of sheep, who set off to solve the mystery of who murdered their beloved shepherd. The human cast for this tale includes Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, and Emma Thompson. Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and Rhys Darby lend their voices to the sheep detectives themselves. The new trailer for the film has sheared its way out of the paddock today.
THE PREMISE
In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.
