Many Stars attended the 40th BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival this week at the BFI Southbank for the red carpet of the World Premiere of MADFABULOUS. Members of the film team were present, including the director Celyn Jones and stars Callum Scott-Howells, Ruby Stokes, Louis Hynes, Tom Rhys Harries, and Clara Paget. In addition, special guests included Iwan Rheon, Shaznay Lewis, Black Peppa, Michael Gunning, and Anaïs Gallagher. The festival is the largest LGBTQIA+ film festival in Europe. It takes place from 18 – 29 March at BFI Southbank.

ABOUT THE FILM

MADFABULOUS is inspired by the true story of Henry Paget, the unlikely British aristocrat who smashed society’s notions of class, gender, and decorum. He squandered a multimillion-dollar fortune before his heartbreaking untimely death. Furthermore, the film is a riotous, uncompromising celebration of otherness. When the flamboyant Henry Paget (Callum Scott Howells) arrives in 1890s North Wales from France to claim his aristocratic inheritance, his flair and defiant eccentricities send shockwaves through the upper-class elite. This causes much amusement for the local townspeople. Alongside his spirited cousin Lily (Ruby Stokes) and loyal butler Gelert (Rupert Everett), Henry tries to carve out his own identity as the Fifth Marquess. He must navigate suffocating traditions, scheming relatives, and the long shadow cast by Henry’s estranged father. They left nothing but love… and a good story.
