Sky has announced that comedian Jack Whitehall will be the next host of Saturday Night Live UK. Music for the episode will come from Jorja Smith.
Saturday Night Live UK today announces its next host and musical guest. On 11 April, award-winning comedian and actor Jack Whitehall (The ‘Burbs, Jungle Cruise) will be joined by modern soul icon Jorja Smith. The series will then take a one-week hiatus. After that, it returns for the first of four more episodes on 25 April.
Live from London at 10 pm on a Saturday night, each 75-minute episode sees a different host take to the stage. This happens alongside SNL UK’s inaugural cast. The cast features Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
This Saturday’s show will feature Academy Award-winning British actor Riz Ahmed as the host, alongside rock titans Kasabian.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Broadcast live each week, this brand-new British version brings the high-wire, anything-can-happen energy audiences expect from SNL. It presents a distinctly British perspective.
Written, rehearsed, and performed in the week of broadcast, it preserves SNL’s famously fast turnaround creative process. Each show is staged in front of a live studio audience. Additionally, every episode features an opening monologue, topical sketches, live music, and a UK adaptation of SNL’s iconic satirical news segment, Weekend Update.
Together, this first wave of hosts, musical guests, and cast members marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the globally acclaimed SNL franchise. The series blends its storied legacy with a fresh generation of British comedy voices.
BEHIND THE SERIES
SNL UK is a collaboration between Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video. They produce content for Sky and NOW. Lorne Michaels takes the lead as executive producer, while James Longman leads as the producer. Liz Clare directs the show, and Daran Jonno Johnson serves as the head writer. Helen Kruger Bratt oversees UTAS UK Productions as Managing Director. Meanwhile, Shanna Baynard steps in as Executive in Charge of Production. Andy Charles Smith and Sam Salter work together as Lead Producer and Production Executive for UTAS UK Productions, respectively. Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals, and Lisa Clark, Commissioning Executive at Sky, commissioned the project. Oversight comes from Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios and Chief Content Officer for Sky.
