It’s time for our Summer Movie Preview. The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting movie seasons in years. It will be packed with beloved franchises and nostalgic returns. In addition, you’ll see bold new takes on iconic characters. Also, from galaxies far, far away to the animated worlds families adore, here are five of the most anticipated films hitting theaters this summer. Check out my summer movie preview.
A NEW CHAPTER IN THE STAR WARS GALAXY…
Few announcements have generated as much excitement as The Mandalorian and Grogu. Expanding on the massive success of The Mandalorian, this film brings Din Djarin and Grogu to the big screen for the first time. Fans can expect the same blend of action, heart, and world-building that made the series a phenomenon, but on a much larger cinematic scale. With Grogu firmly cemented as a pop culture icon, this movie has the potential to dominate the early summer box office.
PIXAR RETURNS WITH A BELOVED CLASSIC
Pixar is revisiting one of its most treasured franchises with Toy Story 5. After the emotional conclusion of Toy Story 4, many fans wondered where the story could go next.
While plot details are still under wraps, the return of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the gang promises another heartfelt adventure that blends humor with surprisingly deep themes. In addition, families and longtime fans alike are expected to show up in droves.
DC INTRODUCES A NEW HERPOIC ERA

A LIVE-ACTION REMAKE OF A MODERN FAVORITE
Disney continues its trend of live-action adaptations with Moana. Based on the beloved 2016 animated hit Moana, the film retells the story of a courageous young voyager chosen by the ocean. As someone who hasn’t been a huge fan of the live remakes, I’m hoping for the best while mentally preparing for the worst.
With sweeping visuals, new performances, and the return of familiar music, this adaptation aims to capture the magic of the original. It hopes to introduce the story to a new generation. We’ll see how it goes.
SPIDER-MAN SWINGS BACK INTO ACTION
One of Marvel’s most popular heroes returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Following the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, this installment is expected to explore a more grounded and personal chapter for Peter Parker.
With a renewed focus on Peter’s identity and challenges, the film could mark a tonal shift while still delivering the high-flying action fans expect from a Spider-Man movie.
