Netflix Has Dropped the First Trailer for Sally Field’s Remarkably Bright Creatures

Look out, Shelby Van Pelt fans, because her astounding novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures, is coming to life at Netflix. Starring Hollywood legend Sally Field and rising star Lewis Pullman, the film follows a widow who finds joy again when she forms an unlikely bond with a Giant Pacific Octopus. But when a wayward young man comes to town, they uncover a mystery that leads them to a life-changing discovery and restores their sense of wonder.
The streamer has tasked the director of Where the Crawdads Sing, Olivia Newman, with bringing this captivating story to life, and she is pulling double duty on this project. Alongside John Whittington, Newman has co-written the screenplay based on Shelby Van Pelt’s source material. Check out the trailer below.
SYNOPSIS
A widow who works at a local aquarium finds joy again when she forms an unlikely bond with a Giant Pacific Octopus and a wayward young man who comes to town in search of family. CAST & CREW
The film promises to be a wonderfully uplifting drama that will tug at the heartstrings and remind us of the importance of family. As a result, Olivia Newman has put together a phenomenal crew to bring the poignant adventure to life. In addition to Sally Field and Lewis Pullman, the film stars Colm Meaney, Joan Chen, Kathy Baker, Beth Grant, and Sofia Black D’Elia. Rounding out the cast as the voice of the adorable Giant Pacific Octopus is the legendary Alfred Molina.
Behind the camera, Bryan Unkeless, Peter Craig, and David Levine serve as producers. Erika Hampson, Olivia Newman, Alisa Tager, Tony Lipp, and Alyssa Rodrigues serve as executive producers, with Shelby Van Pelt rounding out the crew to ensure the production does justice to her wonderful novel.
