New blood. Same Beach. Look out, Baywatch fans, because the first teaser for the all-new reboot/sequel series has hit the beach in glorious slow-mo!
Dust off those red shorts and get ready for your slow-mo close-up, because the first teaser for the all-new reboot/sequel of Baywatch has hit the beach. With the warm summer months now here and the UK basking in gloriously unseasonal high temperatures, the studio has dropped our first look at the sun-kissed show. The new adaptation stars Stephen Amell, Brooks Nader, Jessica Belkin, and Livvy Dunne, and is currently shooting in California. But that hasn’t stopped the cast from showing up on social media sporting the vintage red attire.
The brief teaser captioned “I dream in slow motion” shows Brooks Nader, Jessica Belkin, and Livvy Dunne leaping into action before Amell, cast as David Hasselhoff’s son, runs across the beach in slow motion! You heard right: all the hallmarks of the classic series have been refreshed for a whole new generation to enjoy. But don’t take my word for it, scroll down and get your first look below.
A NEW BREED OF HERO
The reboot will celebrate the franchise’s enduring legacy, while re-energizing it for today’s global audience. Fans can expect all the adrenaline-fuelled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry, and beachside heroics that defined the original. Now there is an entirely new cast, contemporary trappings, new tensions and challenges, and a renewed mission to protect Southern California’s shoreline.
As mentioned above, Stephen Amell stars as Hobie Buchannon, “The wild child is now a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch (played in the OG series by David Hasselhoff). Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a Baywatch lifeguard alongside her dad.”
A YOUNG CAST
In addition to Amell, the series stars Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke, and Brooks Nader as Selene. In recurring roles, David Chokachi reprises his original role as Cody Madison, while Livvy Dunne portrays Grace. Erika Eleniak will also reprise her original role as Shauni McClain as a guest star. RELEASE
The reboot has received a 12-episode straight-to-series order and began shooting this March on L.A.’s Venice Beach and on the FOX Studio Lot in Century City. In the UK, Baywatch has already found a home on SKY Television and NOW TV following a deal with Fremantle.
The original series became a global phenomenon and earned a colossal 11-season run. At its peak, it was the most-watched show in the world and made several of its stars household names, including Pamela Anderson. If the new series can tap into the original’s brilliance, fans could be in for something truly special. So get ready for your slow-mo close-up, because January is going to be a scorcher!
