Will you be joining The Uprising? You’ll have to decide by October 9th. That’s when the new historical epic will be opening in UK & Irish cinemas. Today, Entertainment Film Distributors is thrilled to launch the new trailer for historical drama THE UPRISING, in UK and Ireland cinemas on 9 October, written and directed by Paul Greengrass (Bourne series, Captain Phillips). THE PREMISE
Andrew Garfield stars as the legendary leader of a ferocious rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II. As war burns across England, he forms an army of the people to face the King’s might in a fight for justice and survival.
Alongside Andrew Garfield, the cast features Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman, and Katherine Waterston.
THOUGHTS
The trailer has a familiar feel to it. It is almost akin to what we have seen in Braveheart. Both films featured an uprising by those people subjugated and ruled tyrannically by a vicious and unwavering king. Both contain amounts of violence and bloodletting, the kind that will feel only right in the grand scheme of things, and due to the subject material we will see on the screen. Could this be something that will have a serious look-in at the Academy Awards next year? We can only hope. With Jason Blum, Paul Greengrass, Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, Joe Neurauter, and Lars Sylvest on producing duties, with Paul Greengrass also writing and directing the film, it could be an historical epic that will hit every target it aims for.
The Uprising will hit UK and Irish cinemas on 9 October, released by Entertainment Film Distributors.
