Paramount Pictures invites you to experience a new Christmas classic in Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Scrooge in the first trailer for Ebenezer!
Get ready for a new Christmas classic, because Paramount Pictures has dropped the festive first trailer for Ebenezer. The new interpretation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol stars the master of misfits himself, the legendary Johnny Depp, who makes his triumphant return to the big screen after his well-publicized off-screen controversies. Joined by Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, and the legendary Ian McKellen, the film boasts an incredible cast and the directorial vision of Ti West, culminating in all the ingredients of an instant Christmas classic.
But does Johnny Depp still have the magic that made him a household name? Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder for long. Ebenezer made a spectacular splash at San Diego Comic-Con overnight, where Depp surprised fans in person and helped unveil the film’s first official trailer. If the Hall H reaction is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding “yes.”
So, dust off the Christmas decorations, warm up your best “Bah, Humbug!”, and settle in to watch the first trailer below.

What a brilliant first trailer. Johnny Depp has been on hand to deliver some of those memorable characters in Hollywood history, and it looks like we are about to meet another classic character here. His take on Ebenezer Scrooge appears wonderfully eccentric, layered, and oddly charming—capturing the same magnetic screen presence that made Captain Jack Sparrow such an iconic character. I can’t wait to see the full performance this November.
