A new trailer for Ebenezer drags Johnny Depp’s Scrooge into a dark, twisted take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Look out, Dickens fans, because Paramount Pictures just dropped a fresh trailer for Ti West’s Ebenezer into our Christmas stockings. The new interpretation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol stars the legendary Johnny Depp, who looks set to deliver another iconic performance as Ebenezer Scrooge. Joined by Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, and the legendary Ian McKellen, the film boasts an incredible cast and the directorial vision of Ti West, culminating in all the ingredients of an instant Christmas classic.
But has Johnny Depp still got the magic? Thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long to go deeper into West’s vision of this Dickens classic. The new trailer takes us back to Dickensian London, where Scrooge is about to meet three terrifying spirits. But not before he must plead his case to his old partner, the late Jacob Marley, played here by the unconquerable Ian McKellen. Despite Depp’s quick, comedic delivery, the film promises a far darker take on the property than we’ve seen in some time. So, dust off the Christmas decorations, warm up your best “Bah, Humbug!”, and settle in to watch the latest trailer below.
SYNOPSIS
This November, Johnny Depp is Ebenezer Scrooge. The classic Christmas tale. Told like never before. From Ti West, EBENEZER also stars Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, with Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
CAST & CREW
Ti West has assembled a seriously impressive ensemble for his fresh take on Dickens’ timeless classic. Leading the charge is the legendary Johnny Depp, joined by an all-star cast that includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and the incomparable Ian McKellen. With a lineup like that, this adaptation is already shaping up to be one to watch.
West isn’t just calling the shots from the director’s chair, either. He’s also serving as an executive producer alongside David Reid, Adam Bohling, Stephen Deuters, Jason Forman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary, bringing together a powerhouse creative team behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera.

RELEASE
Personally, I cannot wait to see Johnny Depp’s take on Ebenezer Scrooge. The actor has brought some of Hollywood’s most memorable characters to life over the years, and his interpretation of Dickens’ infamous miser could be something truly special. Add in a stellar ensemble cast, ambitious production values, and Ti West’s distinctive vision, and Ebenezer looks set to deliver a fresh and wonderfully bold spin on one of the most beloved Christmas stories of all time.
West has previously described the film as a traditional take on the property, while promising to give the story enough breathing room to feel fresh and develop its own identity. And as a massive fan of Dickens’ original novel, the director clearly has no intention of straying too far from the source material. That sounds like the perfect balance to me: a faithful adaptation that respects what makes the story so timeless while still bringing something new to the table. If these first-look images are anything to go by, West may have conjured up something truly special—and there’s more than enough here to get us feeling festive!
