This October, she bites back! From Lionsgate, and starring Kiana Madeira and Jessica Rothe, the first trailer, poster and images warn us to Beware Boiúna!
Oh, come on! WHY? With Sony not being content with torturing me with a remake of Anaconda, Lionsgate has decided to up the ante and scare me to death! Of all the monsters in the world to make a horror movie about, why did it have to be about a giant snake? Yes, my (LEAST) favorite creature in the world is about to bite back this October. Beware Boiúna will be slithering into theaters on October 2nd. As the title suggests, it’s about being careful around a massive snake that likes to kill and eat people. Just my cup of tea (NOT!). The cast is led by Kiana Madeira, Jessica Rothe, and Logan Marshall-Green. Of course, a trailer for the film has decided to invade my nightmares. Take a look.
THE PREMISE
Deep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain. In the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.
BEHIND THE FILM
Written by Alan McElroy, from a story by himself and Tony Giglio, the movie is directed by Mike P. Nelson. Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer are the producers behind the horror/ suspense film.
Now, I know the film doesn’t show us too much of Boiúna (thankfully), but what it does show is something that looks to be genuinely scary. A good old-fashioned creature feature that could possibly have a great story behind it. At the very least, it could turn out to be a highly entertaining B-movie in its own right. It certainly bodes well as we build up to Halloween and the upcoming scary movies that are on the slate for release. But you’ll have to tell me what it’s like, as I’m liable to be watching the film from behind my fingers, or listening to it as I stare at the theater floor to avoid the snake bits!
