The Box Office Top 10 | The UK Top 10 (16-18 Oct)

The UK Box Office Top 10 has landed! Who’s ruling the box office, who’s climbing the charts, and who’s been knocked off the throne? Ready to see who made the cut? Let’s roll the credits!

Welcome to the Official UK Box Office Top 10—your home for the latest box office chart and the biggest films lighting up UK cinemas. From horrors to magical family favorites and must-see new releases, here’s a look at the movies audiences are flocking to this week.

Five new films entered the box office this weekend, including three in the top three. Audiences demonstrated their desire for new films, with Street Fighter dominating. Read on to see how the rest of the box office performed.

(1) Street Fighter

Street Fighter opened at number one in the box office, to a total of £2,313,689. This is an OK opening for the film, a bit on the low side, but Paramount will be pleased it’s only on the hook for distribution costs, thanks to a co-financing agreement with developer Capcom. The film’s opening also beat out competitor fighting game Mortal Kombat 2, which opened earlier in 2026 to £1,607,520.

(2) Forgotten Island

Forgotten Island is DreamWorks’ 50th animated movie, and opened to £1,299,539 in the UK. This is a lower opening than DreamWorks’ last fully animated movie, The Bad Guys 2, which opened to £1,628,702 in 2025, though Forgotten Island is a wholly original family movie, which may explain its box office struggle.

(3) Jailer 2

Jailer 2 opened to £1,169,412, but that opening doesn’t tell the film’s full story. It opened in only 228 cinemas across the UK, about half of what many big blockbusters do. Its per-theatre average was £5,129, the highest for the weekend.

(4) Verity

Verity dropped 44% in its third weekend of release, with a total of £1,094,503. Its overall total is now approaching £10 million; currently, it stands at £9,488,335.

(5) Other Mommy

The Other Mommy dropped 53% in its second weekend, with a total of £934,095. It’s a solid hold for a horror movie, which typically sees harsher drops, especially for a horror that’s been panned by both audiences and critics.

(6) Hadestown: The Musical

Hadestown: The Musical is a folk-jazz musical by Anaïs Mitchell that weaves together two ancient Greek myths—Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone—guided by the messenger god Hermes. It opened to £623,906.

(7) Whalefall

Whalefall is unfortunately the lowest new film for this weekend at only £510,743, as other movies like Street Fighter took up its oxygen and forced it underwater. It’s a disappointing opening for Disney, especially given the film’s hefty budget.

(8) Heart of the Beast

Heart of the Beast came in at number eight in its fourth weekend, bringing in a total of £509,839, and it dropped 38% for another good hold.

(9) Resident Evil

Resident Evil has brought in £482,942 in its fifth weekend, bringing its overall total to £13,644,200. This makes it the franchise’s highest-grossing film, unadjusted for inflation.

(10) Sense And Sensibility

Dropping from number six to number 10 in its fourth weekend, Sense and Sensibility brought in £311,458, a 48% drop-off. Its overall total is now £5,861,336.

Next weekend brings Clayface, Ali G: Who Iz I?, Klara And The Sun and Wildwood to cinemas.
