The critically acclaimed series The Assassin returns for a second season. It stars Keeley Hawes, Freddie Highmore, Shalom Brune-Franklin and Devon Terrell. The 6-episode series premieres on Prime Video November 6.
STORY
The second season of The Assassin brings Julie (Keeley Hawes) and Edward (Freddie Highmore) back together. Edward’s honeymoon with Kayla (Shalom Brune-Franklin) takes an unexpected turn, forcing him to reluctantly team up with his mother once again. This time, the mother-son duo find themselves caught up in the Spanish criminal underworld.
This season is a thrilling, fast-paced ride that rarely slows down. There’s always something happening, keeping the story engaging and entertaining from start to finish. The action sequences are exciting, while the twists and turns add to the excitement. With plenty of suspense and high-stakes situations, the season manages to keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout.
But The Assassin isn’t just about the thrills. It also works surprisingly well as a comedy, with plenty of humor to balance out the more serious moments. The humor never takes away from the high stakes of the story. Instead, it works seamlessly alongside the tension, with both elements complementing each other perfectly. Much of the comedy comes from the witty, snappy exchanges between Julie and Edward, whose constant banter is a real highlight of the series. Even in the most tense situations, the two manage to find themselves in amusing circumstances that are bound to get a few laughs. One particular scene in a car involving Julie, Edward and Bastien (Arnaud Binard) is especially hilarious and a perfect example of how well the show’s humor works. Bastien is quite a serious character who can also be just as funny as the mother and son.

Undoubtedly, Freddie Highmore and Keeley Hawes have amazing on-screen chemistry as son and mother. They really carry the series.
