Annlyel delves into Marvel’s archives to uncover potential opponents for Black Widow’s highly anticipated standalone adventure…
The Black Widow movie is, at the least, a couple of years away but it is in development and that means that we’ll eventually get more news surrounding the highly-anticipated film. Black Widow is easily one of Marvel’s most beloved Avengers and the fact that it’s taken this long for her to get her own standalone film is a bit…bizarre.
One of the exciting things about a superhero movie is learning who the villains are going to be. I’m not very familiar with Black Widow’s backstory or who her potential archnemesis may end up being but after doing a bit of research I think I have a clue of who the antagonists could be.
1. Indestructible Man
A man by the name of Damon Dran (a.k.a Indestructible Man) is one of Black Widow’s most persistent foes in the comics. I don’t know much about the Indestructible Man but he definitely sounds like a villain that could be used as the main antagonist or a side nuisance in the Black Widow film.
2. Yelena Belova (Black Widow)
Every origin film for a hero features a villain that is the exact opposite of that protagonist and so, sticking to that formula, this seems like the perfect antagonist for the movie. She’s practically an anti-Black Widow and that sounds like an awesome villain for the film.
3. Red Guardian
Black Widow has had an interesting life and this antagonist, Alexi Shostakov, will bring quite the drama to a standalone film. In the comics, Shostakov married Natasha Romanoff and the KGB tricked her into going even deeper into the Black Widow program after he was “killed.” But it was a hoax and Shostakov, actually alive, became known as the “Red Guardian.” That drama-filled storyline would be so interesting to see in a prequel standalone film for Black Widow.
So, these are the villains that I think would be great for the upcoming Black Widow movie. Whether these will be the antagonists that will end up in the film is yet to be seen.
