The battle for dominance is about to begin…
Hot on the heels of the release of an awesome new poster for the upcoming blockbuster, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Warner Bros has unleashed an epic new trailer which gives us a little taste of the monster mayhem awaiting us when the movie is unleashed upon the box office next May.
In the new trailer, we’re given a better look at the film’s other kaiju monsters – Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah – which are sure to challenge the mighty Godzilla for supremacy before the king of the monsters set his sights on the King Kong in the 2020 mega-blockbuster, Godzilla vs Kong.
The fantastic new poster reveals the mighty Godzilla reaching for the heavens and unleashing an atomic fire breath fuelled roar of defiance ahead of his encounter with three of his most monstrous enemies.
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Michael Dougherty’s sequel appears to far grander in scale than Gareth Edwards’ character-driven predecessor and is heightening the action and spectacle to an epic magnitude. Whether Dougherty can pull it off remains to be seen, however, his work on Trick ‘R Treat and Krampus which were packed full of over-the-top effects and action gives us hope that Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be a colossus amongst its competitors.
The clash of the greatest monsters in movie history is upon us and the anticipation for Godzilla vs Kong starts here, but first, we are all invited to take a ringside seat for the ultimate showdown of the monsters.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters roars into cinemas on May 31, 2020.
