Jon Favreau reveals a breath-taking new poster from Disney’s upcoming blockbuster…
In recent years, Disney has gained huge success with its reimagining of many of its most beloved animated classics, a trend that will continue this year with live-action remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin and the highly anticipated The Lion King.
With the eyes of the world tuning in to watch the Academy Awards, Disney moved quickly to capitalise on the popularity of the event by airing an all-new TV Spot for the upcoming remake which reveals Simba as the most adorable lion cub. If that wasn’t enough, Director Jon Favreau took to social media to unveil a gloriously picturesque new poster which reveals Mufasa and Simba on the African plains set against the backdrop of the sunset.
Listed on the leading edge of the poster are members of the stellar voice cast, including Donald Glover (adult Simba), Mufasa (James Earl Jones), Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Adult Nala), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Billy Eichner (Timon), John Kani (Rafiki), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi) and John Oliver (Zazu).
Jon Favreau has promised to use the same special effects employed in his previous blockbuster The Jungle Book. The Oscar-winning effects have been polished even further since they wowed the world in Jungle Book and with a cast devoid of human characters, we could be set for the most visually dynamic photorealistic CGI feature ever attempted.
The Lion King roars into cinemas on July 19th.
