Annlyel shares her reaction to watching James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment for the VERY FIRST TIME!
James Cameron is an iconic director for his vision with science-fiction films. His film, Avatar, is the highest-grossing movie of all time with roughly $2.8 billion dollars because it’s a legitimately good film. The imagination and the wonder provided by this world that was practically entirely made of CGI was also absolutely phenomenal at the time.
The Terminator is sci-fi at its best with a story so unique that it’s undeniably riveting but until a few days ago I had never seen its sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, all the way through. I only knew the second half of the film. So imagine my surprise when I finally watched the movie in its complete form. I was utterly blown away. The Terminator was a great story and easily one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made but James Cameron returned seven years later with a sequel so off-the-chain that I could only gaze at the screen wide-eyed with wonder.
First off, the twist of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s Terminator being good was brilliant. It could’ve been a terrible idea but it wasn’t. Yay. And then the new Terminator, played by Robert Patrick, is as scary as they come. *shudder* His morphing ability is really frightening.
What makes this movie so ridiculously good is its non-stop intensity. Whether we’re talking about Sarah Connor’s attempted escape from the hospital or the final action sequence in the warehouse this movie left me riveted to the screen. I’ve seen a lot of movie sequels but it’s really, really hard to take an already great story and make it greater. The Terminator was a phenomenal movie that could’ve easily stopped where it was and instead James Cameron returned with even more to offer us.
As you can tell, I’m still blown away by how good this movie was. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is literally the depiction of perfection among action-packed sci-fi films and honestly, action movies of all genres need to take notes ’cause this movie is incredible. Absolutely incredible.
And yeah, it’s better than The Terminator by a mile. Seriously, it’s that good.
I salute you James Cameron for creating something so magnificent. Thank you.
