Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher and King Shark expected to join Deadshot and Harley Quinn in the ranks of the new-look Taskforce X
Just days after Idris Elba was reported to be replacing Will Smith as Deadshot in James Gunn’s highly anticipated Suicide Squad sequel, we are hearing reports that the vacant roster positions are being filled thick and fast. Although nothing has been confirmed by Warner Bros. Collider is reporting a scoop on the new characters who will be featured alongside Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
Ratcatcher aka Otis Flannegan:
A Gotham City exterminator who soon turned to a life of crime and uses an army of small rodents to do his bidding, all while armed with a poison gas gun. Although the character is a man in the comics, Collider claims that Ratcatcher is likely to be gender-swapped in the film.
Another Gotham City villain who can turn the polka dots covering his costume into a variety of devices and deadly weapons.
A pacifist diplomat so committed to peace that he’s willing to use deadly force in order to advance the cause. He uses an array of special non-lethal weapons and also founds the Pax Institute. Most of the villains he goes up against are dictators and warlords.
King Shark, aka Nanaue:
A colossal humanoid shark whose father is the Shark God. King Shark’s augmented flesh provides protection against the pressures of the deep and physical attacks. His shark-like physiology includes teeth and claws, which are used as weapons, and gills that allow him to breathe underwater. He can swim at great speeds and is resistant to cold, has enhanced strength and endurance, and he can also regenerate lost bodily tissue.

Collider believes the role of Peacemaker has been optioned to Dave Bautista and given the actor’s desire to continue to work with his former Guardians of the Galaxy director his involvement is almost certain. With a gender-swap being considered, Ratcatcher is expected to serve as a makeshift surrogate daughter to Deadshot and given his unconventional relationship with his offspring in David Ayer’s original it’s not too much of a stretch for him to assume the role.
Obviously, until Warner Bros. confirms this report, we should take this rumour for what it is…just a rumour. However, with Margot Robbie expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn and Idris Elba likely to fill Will Smith’s shoes, The Suicide Squad is shaping up to be one hell of a movie.
The Suicide Squad is expected to arrive in cinemas on August 6th, 2021.
