Slade Wilson will be bringing his lethal skillset to bear in Titans: Season 2
The superb DC Universe series Titans proved to be a turning point for DC television. Up until its release, fans of the DC franchise had enjoyed the ever-expanding adventures of the Arrowverse with shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. More recently, the ranks have been bolstered by the inclusion of Black Lightning and will soon be enhanced further by The Batwoman. But all these great shows have shared the same restrictions. The limitations of a watershed TV audience.
Being broadcast on DC’s premier streaming platform allowed Titans to break free of such shackles, and the result was a dark, gritty and ultra-violent take on the property which proved to be a hit with the fans. The deliciously gripping season finale teased us with the emergence of Dick Grayson’s other alter-ego Nightwing and the last-gasp arrival of Superboy and Krypto left us gasping for more.
In an exciting twist, news is reaching us via Deadline regarding the casting of Esai Morales as Batman arch-villain Deathstroke for Titans Season Two. The lethal mercenary Slade Wilson has made quite the splash in recent years. Manu Bennett portrayed the character in several episodes of Arrow, and Joe Manganiello made a brief appearance in the post-credit sequence of Justice League and now, thanks to Titans, Deathstroke will be arriving to threaten team Titans in season 2.
Here’s the character bio from the show’s producers:
Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.
Manu Bennett’s portrayal as Deathstroke was one of the standout elements of the Arrowverse. His long-running feud with Oliver Queen was one of the most exhilarating storylines of its seven-season run and the thought of him crossing path’s with Dick Grayson is an enticing prospect.
