Annlyel reveals her top five scenes in Avengers Endgame!
I’ve seen a lot of movie finales. I’ve seen Return of the Jedi, which was the finale of the Original Star Wars trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Return of the King, but rarely have I ever seen anything as perfect and concise as Avengers: Endgame. With something that’s supposed to be the culmination of over twenty! movies the task for Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers, and the writers to end this story in such a jaw-dropping fashion is astounding. They had to bring hours upon hours of storytelling into a giant gift-wrapped box of enjoyment. I laughed, I cheered, I cried, and even now, listening to the soundtrack, I still can’t help but get teary.
I’m definitely going to see the film again, it’s going to be amazing watching the movie for a second time, but until then, I’m going to try to list my five favorite moments from the film after seeing it for the first time. Oh, there are so many enjoyable moments from the film but here goes nothing.
SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!
Beware, this post contains major spoilers ahead! Thank you for heeding this warning.
5. Reliving the Guardians of the Galaxy Beginning
One of my favorite Marvel movies of all time is easily Guardians of the Galaxy. From the music to the story and the wonderful characters that inhabit this story, Guardians of the Galaxy delights in so many ways. To relive that wonderful scene depicting Peter Quill listening to “Come and Get Your Love” and to get a different perspective of that scene was not only comedically genius but just so much fun to watch.
4. Meeting Thor Five Years Later
Oh-ho-ho. The surprises in this movie were so fantastic but one of the best surprises was meeting Thor in 2023. He had settled down and become your classic potbelly drunk; a laughable alteration from the Asgardian image of masculine perfection that he used to be. This scene left me in stitches and truly thrilled. I love surprises that you would never expect and an overweight drunk Thor is DEFINITELY something I could’ve never imagined.
Loved, loved, loved this twist. 🙂
3. That Final Scene
Tears, okay. So many tears. Endgame was already an emotional rollercoaster but the way this film ended, with Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, finally having that dance he promised, oh the emotions I am getting just thinking about it. Not only was it a perfect way to end the movie but it is truly a beautiful conclusion to Captain America’s story. So, so, very beautiful. And to see old Steve pass on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson/Falcon is just…ah, I love it. This is such a good movie.
2. Girl Power!
Remember that moment in Infinity War when it seems that Wanda Maximoff is in trouble as Proxima Midnight stands over her and then Black Widow and Okoye show up to save the day? Remember how beautiful that moment felt as we were able to witness these three incredible female warriors duking it out in that Wakandan trench? Well, we get another powerful moment like that except ten times better as every female Avenger assembled to fight Thanos in a stunning moment that left me beaming with joy and covered in goosebumps. It gave us a taste of what an all-female Avengers movie could look like and. I. Loved. It!
1. Captain America Wields Thor’s Hammer and The Avengers Assemble
These two moments were too powerfully impactful for me to top above the other. Captain America wielding Mjolnir was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. In fact, I can honestly say that moment alone was better than the entire The Last Jedi movie, including the Praetorian Guard duel. And the dead Avengers returning, oh, you want to talk about getting emotional. I could not. Stop. Crying! I was so unbelievably happy to see all of these heroes return from the dead in such a beautifully epic way that happy tears were just streaming down my face. And to make that scene even greater, I was thankfully watching the film with a crowd that was very lively. Everyone was cheering and utterly losing it, especially when Spider-Man jumped out of a portal. It was utter mania in my theater. Great, great, great scene.
So, yes, these are my, at the moment, five favorite scenes from Avengers: Endgame. I’m sure with more viewings these five favorite scenes will change but at the moment, yeah, these are the moments that left me the absolute happiest.
I love Marvel!
