The biggest movie of the decade arrives three weeks after the US release!
The biggest movie of the decade, Avengers Endgame, is returning to cinemas this weekend with all new scenes and a special tribute to the great Stan Lee, but if you can’t make it to your nearest multiplex, fear not because the mother of all movies is heading to home media in a few months.
Marvel announced this morning that the movie will be hitting the UK Blu-Ray and DVD market on September 2nd – a full three weeks later than the US who will be enjoying the blockbuster from August 13th.
You can see the cover art for the Blu-Ray, DVD, 3D Blu-Ray and 4K Blu-Ray below along with the entire list of special features that will come with the release. Fans can look forward to six deleted scenes as well as a special focus on both Iron Man and Captain America, two heroes who ended their MCU run in Endgame.
Blu-Ray Special Features:
Audio Commentary, Play Movie with Intro by Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Remembering Stan Lee, Setting the Tone: Casting Robert Downey Jr., A Man Out of Time: Creating Captain America, Black Widow: Whatever It Takes, The Russo Brothers: Journey to Endgame, The Women of the MCU, Bro Thor, Gag Reel, DELETED SCENE: Goji Berries, DELETED SCENE: Bombs on Board, DELETED SCENE: Suckiest Army in the Galaxy, DELETED SCENE: You Used to Frickin’ Live Here, DELETED SCENE: Tony and Howard, DELETED SCENE: Avengers Take a Knee.
Sadly, the DVD release appears to a vanilla “movie only” version, so if it’s special features you’re after its best to order one of the Blu-Ray versions.
Although this news is exciting, one cannot help but be frustrated by the three-week time delay between the UK and the US. Sadly, this happens all too often with franchises enveloped beneath the Disney umbrella. Disney owned releases that arrive a few days earlier on UK screens often find themselves arriving later on home media. For instance, Captain Marvel was released in the US on June 11th but UK fans will have to wait until July 15th before they enjoy Carol Danvers’ first solo adventure in their own home. And now, Avengers Endgame has become the latest victim of this unwelcome delay.
Unfortunately, until Disney amends this bias marketing strategy the neglected fans of the UK will continue to suffer. We waited for Star Wars, we’re STILL waiting for Captain Marvel, and I guess we’re just going to have to wait for Avengers: Endgame too!
Come on Disney, you own the Force…it’s time to do “whatever it takes!” to level the playing field!
Avengers Endgame comes home on September 2nd.
