‘Mulan’ Is Set to Be Disney’s Next Big Spring Hit
Disney’s live-action remakes have been up and down, from heralded for retelling stories in a fun and fascinating way to berated for not being fresh enough. The Lion King is coming out in a few weeks and it is destined to be an absolute stunner. While Aladdin was met with mixed reviews its box-office numbers ($921 million and climbing) say otherwise, driving millions of people around the world to watch the remake of this beloved classic.

Sunday afternoon provided us with the first look at Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan and it while it had some similarities to the original it was clearly a new version of the story we have grown to love. A lot of people noticed that Mulan’s faithful companion, the small but mighty dragon Mushu (voiced by the legend, Eddie Murphy) was missing as well as her love interest, Captain Shang and the infamous Disney songs.
Many will be ticked off about these changes, some will be pleased, but it is very clear, with this movie coming out next March like Captain Marvel its box-office dominance is imminent.
Bravo, Disney, bravo.
