Witness the birth of The Age of Resistance in the awesome final trailer for Netflix’s Dark Crystal series
The battle for Thra is about to begin.
We are just weeks away from the launch of Netflix’s The Dark Crystal prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and the anticipation is building. The countdown to Friday, August 30th is well and truly on, and if we weren’t already excited to watch the series, Netflix has unleashed an epic final trailer which delivers on its promise of spectacular action, breath-taking visuals and puppet magic galore!
Check it out:
Based on Jim Henson’s beloved and ground-breaking 1982 feature film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance reveals: a new story set many years before the events of the movie and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.
Personally, I adore the original movie. Like many movies of the era, The Dark Crystal captured lightning in a bottle and harnessed the very best of Jim Henson’s creature shop to deliver a fantasy adventure similar in tone to Star Wars and rival to that of the best the Muppets movies of the time. Having sat in on a wonderful panel with legendary concept artist Brian Froud at MCM Comic Con earlier in the year, I have one hundred percent confidence in this series. Froud’s devotion to the source material is admirable, and if he can replicate the magic he injected into the original movie we could be in for a very special adventure when the series launches.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will be available to stream from August 30th.
