Annlyel shares her favourite moment from George Lucas’ Star Wars saga curtain-raiser The Phantom Menace

Recently I did a series sharing my favorite moments from all 23 Marvel films in the MCU. It’s now time to look at my favorite moments from my favorite franchise of all time, Star Wars. And of course, this series begins with The Phantom Menace.

Being a child born in the late 90s’, I was introduced to a galaxy far, far away via the Prequel Trilogy and so The Phantom Menace was the first Star Wars film I ever watched. Of course, years later, The Phantom Menace pales in comparison to some of the other films in the franchise but it still manages to have a special place in my heart. Because I regard The Phantom Menace with such fondness it’s actually proving more difficult than I first anticipated to decipher the best moment from the film. But, as I think long and hard about it, I’m realizing that there’s one scene that has brought me joy since the first time I ever saw it. And that is literally the final scene.

Yes, there’s the action-packed Pod Racing sequence or the epic lightsaber duel between the Jedi and Darth Maul but honestly, it’s that celebratory conclusion that provides me so much boundless joy whenever I watch it. In fact, I’m getting chills just thinking about it.

The joy, the music, the vibrancy of the petals being thrown into the air by all of the happy children, Queen Amidala’s stunning outfit, everything about this scene screams joy and I love it.
