Peyton Reed will Return to Direct Ant-Man 3 for Marvel Studios
Are you ready for more adventures in the Quantum Realm?
With Marvel’s pre-announced slate of upcoming sequels and debut solo movies, it appeared that Ant-Man was set to be cast adrift in the Quantum Realm, banished never to return. But alas, the news is emerging from the team at THR which appears to confirm that our favourite shrinking superhero has earned his third outing in the MCU.
According to THR, Ant-Man 3 has officially been given the green light. Moreover, long-term series director Peyton Reed is set to return to helm the threequel and complete his trilogy which includes Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

As is always the case with Marvel projects, plot details for Ant-Man 3 are being kept under wraps at this early stage, but THR’s sources have believed that the plan is to shoot the sequel in late 2020 or early 2021 for a 2022 release. Which makes sense. The current Marvel release schedule has an untitled project set to release on July 29th 2022, and with both previous instalments being released in July Ant-Man 3 seems like a shoo-in to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors. However, sources close to the deal say that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder will shoot before Ant-Man 3.

Paul Rudd will obviously be returning as Scott Lang, marking his fifth appearance in the MCU following Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man And The Wasp, and Avengers: Endgame. However, as recently as last month, the future of Ant-Man had been in serious doubt. There seemed to be little room in Marvel’s upcoming slate for another adventure in the Quantum Realm, and his finale at the climax of Endgame appeared to have given Scott Lang a well deserved happy ending. Added to neither previous instalments breaking the bank at the box office and the chances of a threequel appeared to be shrinking by the day! (See what I did there?).

Personally, I am delighted to see Ant-Man back for one more adventure. The traditional Marvel formula rewarded its heroes with three movies each and it would have criminal for Ant-Man to be the only hero not to be bestowed with a cinematic trilogy.
Bravo Marvel!
Mark the date in your diary, Ant-Man 3 is expected to enlarge on cinema screens on July 29th, 2022.
