Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will return to defend Metropolis in their very own series
In the past few months, The CW has handed renewals to several of its tentpole shows including The Flash, Batwoman, Black Lightning and Supergirl, however, the retirement of Arrow has left a large hole in the release schedule. As we know, Arrow was the springboard that launched the Arrowverse and The CW has been searching for a larger than life character to help fill the void post Crisis On Infinite Earths.
Well, dust of the red cape because Superman is set to fly to the rescue and lead the charge in his very own series. News emerged last October that The CW was actively developing the series which will star Arrowverse alumni, Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, but nothing official had been announced. Until now.
Superman & Lois will follow “the world’s most famous Super Hero and comic books’ most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”
Thankfully, with Supergirl already well established and many of DC’s more colourful villains already having featured in some capacity I think it is safe to say that supercriminal crossovers will quickly become the norm. Supergirl has already featured the Arrowverse incarnation of Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer), so you’d expect him to become the main antagonist for the Man of Steel sooner rather than later.
Either way, Superman is officially returning to the small screen, a platform that has yielded incredible successes in the past. Like the other Arrowverse shows, the series will be headed by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
