Annlyel checks out the prospect of Duchess Satine making an unlikely return in the Obi-Wan Disney+ series
If you’re not familiar with The Clone Wars animated series but you do know Obi-Wan Kenobi then let me give you a quick rundown on who Duchess Satine Kryze is. Duchess Kryze is Obi-Wan’s girlfriend. Nope, that’s not an exaggeration.
Master Kenobi literally has a love interest and she was the ruler of Mandalore. Apparently, when they were in their younger years both Obi-Wan and Satine had an Anakin/Padme incident where the two youngsters fell for one another. But both of them were much more mature than Anakin and Padme and decided to do what’s right and not have a forbidden romance.
That doesn’t mean the feelings they had for one another were eradicated, however, and throughout The Clone Wars, their relationship was highlighted in abundance. Maul, discovering that Satine was an old lover of Kenobi’s, lures him into a trap, captures both of them, and murders Satine, the love of his life, before his very eyes.
Yeah, it’s pretty tragic.
With the Obi-Wan Kenobi series surely focusing on his past and maybe the people that he has lost we could very easily see the Mandalorian Duchess highlighted in a flashback sequence. I’ve always wanted to see the Duchess in live-action so that would be pretty cool. Now, should she appear in the series? Yes and no. It could be a fun way to get us to see a beloved Clone Wars character in a live-action setting but it could be pointless as well. We’ll see what the writers behind this story have in mind.
It’s only a matter of time before the cast will be revealed in which case speculation can run rampant. Until then…May the Force be with us.
