Max explores this year’s slate of blockbusters to determine which movies will break the box office
2020 New Decade, New movies. Will any of this year’s films break the box office or even join the billion-dollar club? To break the box office and make the Top 50 of all time, movies currently need to gross at least 970,000,000 dollars worldwide which is no easy feat. January was a quiet start to the year, but starting in February; wind it up and watch it go.
1. Birds of Prey (And The Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn)
This movie stars Margot Robbie as the beautiful but psychotic Harley Quinn. With the success of 2019’s Joker lining their pockets, Warner Bros has no pressure on it if this film flops. 2016’s Suicide Squad was poorly received, but people may want to see Harley cut loose. It makes the list.

2. Mulan
– All of Disney’s live-action remakes tend to do well and Mulan was always a gem (or jade). McDonald’s may even bring back the fabled Szechuan sauce for it, which made its debut when the animated Mulan came out in ‘98. It breaks onto the list
3. No Time to Die
I’m super excited about this movie as it stars one of my favorite new actors; Rami Malek as the villain. With Skyfall’s box office performance and the fact that this Daniel Craig’s last appearance as James Bond, it makes the list and breaks it twice; grossing a billion.
4. Black Widow
Everybody loves ScarJo and fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow movie. It will definitely be a very different superhero film since Black Widow has no superpowers. It shatters the list. A billion dollars
5. Fast and Furious 9
I don’t know why people love this series so much, but boy do they love it. Furious 7 is in the Top 10 List and 9 is sure to be at least, well….9
6. Artemis Fowl
I never read the books but it did have a following in the ’00s. It does well but doesn’t make the list
7. Wonder Woman 1984
Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman and it does well but doesn’t make the list.
8. Minions: The Rise of Gru
May seem silly but Despicable Me is high on the list so this one just makes it.
9. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
The Ghostbusters movies are not on the Top 50 list, but after that horror we got a few years ago, everyone is dying for this. It just makes it
10. Morbius
Depending on the plot, this superhero movie may be a flop. No list
11. Venom 2
Venom did extremely poor for a character of this much popularity, and Venom 2 is probably not going to do any better despite Carnage being in it. Doesn’t make the list
12. The Eternals
No clue?
1. Godzilla vs Kong
Definitely draws crowds but not even remotely list-worthy
14. Dune
This is a difficult nut to crack. If the movie is good, the box office explodes. If it tanks, then a no-go
Final Thoughts:
So here you have it. Did I miss anything? Which movie do you think will top the box.
