Mark Hamill joins Kevin Conroy, Chris Wood and Sarah Michelle Gellar in Kevin Smith’s love letter to the original Masters Of The Universe animated series
Netflix and Mattel have delivered an all-star cast for Kevin Smith’s hotly-anticipated Master Of The Universe Revelation animated series. The series has been designed as a love letter to the original series and will focus on the unresolved storylines of the iconic characters, picking up where they left off decades ago.
Leading the cast as the infamous villain Skeletor will be Star Wars icon Mark Hamill who will be facing off against Chris Wood’s He-Man. Also joining the cast is Batman: The Animated Series legend Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela. Rounding off the cast is original Skeletor Alan Oppenheimer who will be returning as Moss Man.
Here’s the full cast list:
Mark Hamill as Skeletor
Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela
Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms
Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn
Stephen Root as Cringer
Griffin Newman as Orko
Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops
Justin Long as Roboto
Jason Mewes as Stinkor
Phil LaMarr as He-Ro
Tony Todd as Scare Glow
Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena
Diedrich Bader as King Randor/Trap Jaw
Tiffany Smith as Andra
Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress
Cree Summer as Priestess
Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man
Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man
Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena
Original Skeletor Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man
At the time of its announcement, Kevin Smith, (yes, that Kevin Smith) had this to say about the project:
“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe. In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”
Okay, I am officially beside myself with this news. Being an eighties brat, I loved He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and the thought of returning to Eternia and re-joining the fight against Skeletor is a dream come true. Who better than Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy to bring their considerable voice talents to the show. The duo is still regarded as the definitive incarnations of Batman and The Joker following their iconic run in Batman: The Animated Series and will bring an added gravitas to Masters of the Universe.
Smith serves as showrunner/executive producer on the series alongside Rob David (He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe), Adam Bonnett (Descendants), and Christopher Keenan (Justice League, Batman Beyond). The series is being produced by Mattel Television, with Powerhouse Animation handling the animation.
