But fans in the UK will have to wait until April!!
Just weeks after Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker officially fell out of the UK Top 10, Lucasfilm has revealed the Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD release dates. Annoyingly, the poor suffering fans of the UK will have to wait three weeks longer than our friends across the pond.
The official release date for the United States has been confirmed as March 17th for Digital & March 31st for Blu-ray! The official release date for the UK has been confirmed as April 20th for all mediums. However, one glaring omission from the release notes is the official UK Digital release date.
Check out the US in-home trailer:
The Bonus Features have been confirmed as follows:
- The Skywalker Legacy
- Pasaana Pursuit: Creating The Speeder Chase
- Aliens In The Desert
- D-O: Key To The Past
- Warwick & Son
- Cast Of Creatures
Again, another glaring omission from the release notes is the inclusion of ANY deleted scenes. Fans had expected to see some of the MANY rumoured deleted scenes being featured on the home media release, but sadly they have failed to materialise on any format. Could this mean that fans can expect to see the release of a Collector’s Edition further down the line? The same treatment was bestowed upon The Force Awakens so here’s hoping!

So, what do you guys think? The poor suffering fans in the UK are set to endure another agonising wait to get our hands on the latest Star Wars release on home media; this despite the movie opening in multiplexes here a day ahead of the US.
Personally, I am far from surprised. This sad trend has been affecting the UK for years. Whether its the release of The Clone Wars (on it’s original run), or the broadcast of Star Wars Rebels, the release of EVERY new Star Wars movie on home media … or the unwelcome four-month wait for Disney Plus – we should be used to this practice by NOW.
That doesn’t mean we have to like it.
