Black Widow...or Black Widows?

Empire has unveiled two new images from Marvel‘s latest blockbuster

Even though the coronavirus continues to sweep across the globe forcing cinemas, bars, clubs, and other public venues to close their doors for the foreseeable future, Marvel Studios continues to build the hype for its upcoming (we hope) blockbuster, Black Widow.

Today, the studio has released two awesome new official stills from the movie via the great team at Empire Magazine. The first gives us another look at Scarlett Johansson sporting her eye-catching new white suit, while the second reveals her posied to face down a team of similarly trained assassins. Check them out below:

In case you’ve missed the official synopsis, here goes nothing:

“In Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”

Okay, I don’t know about you guys, but Black Widow is fast becoming my must-see movie of the summer. Taskmaster appears to be a solid, highly skilled new villain and can be seen watching security camera footage of Natasha Romanoff from Iron Man 2. What this means for the greater plot remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – with its glittering cast and its action-packed political plot, we could be set for one of the finest Marvel movies to date. And that is damn exciting!

Sadly, all this excitement will have to be tempered following Marvel Studios’ announcement that the movie will be pulled from the release schedule due to the spread of the coronavirus. Several tentpole movies have already been removed from the release schedule including Disney’s Mulan, Antlers, No Time To Die, A Quiet Place Part 2, Fast 9 and The New Mutants, and now, Marvel Studios have followed suit and have removed Black Widow until the epidemic is under control.

Check back for the latest updates.

Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige, Black Widow wipes the red from her ledger in cinemas sometime soon. (We hope).
