To help beat the coronavirus blues, for the foreseeable future, members of team Future of the Force will be on hand with our recommendations of awesome entertainment to check out whilst in self-quarantine. Whether its the best TV shows, ultimate movie marathons or lesser-known gems, we’ll be here to keep you entertained during this difficult time.

If like me, you could really do with a series to sit down with and binge-watch, among the many that are available, you’ll always find Star Trek. You may enjoy the follow-up series like The Next Generation or Voyager or even Deep Space Nine but for me, it has to be the original series. The box sets and the episodes that are on streaming sites and many free to air channels have these new versions of the classic episodes, with all new special effects and enhanced sound and picture. Three seasons of the best science fiction entertainment that you will ever see.

Star Trek: The Original Series - Kirk

You’ll laugh at the dated 1960s references and clothing, you’ll cry with laughter at some episodes such as ‘Operation: Annihilate!!’ with rubber fried egg looking parasites that attack the crew of the U.S.S Enterprise and infect Mr. Spock. But you’ll also come across some truly classic episodes like ‘Balance Of Terror’ and ‘The Doomsday Machine’ and of course, you’ll find the episode ‘Space Seed’ that was the basis for the second big-screen movie, ‘The Wrath Of Khan‘ which is considered the best Star Trek film of them all. You’ll be amazed at the seemingly made-up technology that is used in the show as much of it, thought to be just throw away items in a TV Series, have actually been brought to life in our everyday lives, showing that the series was way ahead of its time. So grab yourself some Romulan Ale, sit down with some weird looking snacks and cuddle up with your favorite Tribble and enjoy the classic entertainment the show contains.

Let us know if you have any suggestions of great movies or TV shows our readers should check out and we’ll feature and share them with the FOTF community.

Stay safe.
