Annlyel looks ahead to the release of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

Look out MCU because Shang-Chi is coming!

There’s nothing like a new Marvel movie. But it’s even more special when that Marvel movie is introducing a brand new character. For a while now we’ve been enjoying films and series focusing on established heroes with cool guest stars. Agatha, John Walker, and Sylvie have been on hand to keep our favorite characters company. Captain Marvel was the last movie we had featuring a new character. And while the film was fun and had its brief glimpses of awesomeness, the character felt like she had been shoehorned into the narrative so we would know who she was before Endgame.

A NEW HERO

Now we’re about to get Shang-Chi, a brand new hero whose ties to the MCU, as of right now, are unknown. Apparently, from what I’ve gleaned from the trailers and tv spots, he’s been residing in America chilling and trying to get away from the family business. The infamous Ten Rings organization. That means he’s seen The Avengers and all of their conflicts. And has never, not once, thought to join the fight. For all we know, he may have even been snapped. Now, it’s his time to show the world who he is as he fights to defend the world from who knows what. I’m guessing his father’s tyrannical plans. And that’s exciting.

I love meeting new Marvel characters. And this guy, according to the early reactions for the film, has met the assignment. Some critics are even touting him as Marvel’s best new superhero. We didn’t get that type of buzz when Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers hit the big screen. But that’s not even the primary reason why I’m excited to watch this movie.

THE MANDARIN

I’m looking so forward to seeing how Marvel Studios brings to life the Ten Rings organization; their ties to Tony Stark and the fake Mandarin. And to see how they’ve managed to stay in the shadows for so many years. Part of the reason why Wakanda was so cool is that it was always somewhat referenced in the early days of the MCU. But there was always a sense of mystery to it. That mystery was shed with Black Panther. And suddenly we were introduced to a corner of the MCU that seemed to be its own little world. It was incredible.

Wakanda

I feel like the same thing is going to happen with Shang-Chi. And I am so excited to see how that side of the story unfolds and connects the dots to both Iron Man and Iron Man 3.

Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings is distributed by Marvel Studios/Disney and will release in cinemas next week.
