“One of the best episodes, it’s a smart story carefully crafted.”
It’s time for our weekly dose of Marvel with What If…? This week’s episode is untitled What If … Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?
STORY
It’s a completely different spin on the movies Iron Man and Black Panther. Thus this episode is packed up with lots of surprises. I didn’t know what to expect! If last week’s episode was my least favorite, this week is one of the best.
It’s a smart story carefully crafted. It brings back characters we knew from both movies and put them in different situations. It follows the same trend as in the previous episode, which means the story is rather dark. Some favorite characters die and one just hits harder than the others, you’ll see when you watch the episode. Obviously, it’s Marvel so there’s still hope among the darkness. But, I like that we are getting stories that are really different. It allows us to discover characters in a new light.
Tony Stark never becoming Iron Man is an intriguing story and even more so when you throw Killmonger in the middle. A weapon manufacturer and a villain teaming up is an explosive mix. On a side note, as an anime fan, I actually liked the little nod with the first design of the Liberator!
CAST

Michael B. Jordan returned to voice Killmonger so it was great hearing him in the role again. We also got to hear Chadwick Boseman again, it was the last episode he recorded. It’s a bit hard to accept that it really was the last time we’ll hear him as T’Challa.
Robert Downey Jr. didn’t return to voice Tony Stark but Mick Wingert did a rather good job to capture Downey’s voice tone and accent.
VERDICT
One of the best episodes, it’s a smart story carefully crafted.
