Darcie embraces the Gotham City night scene with Revolution’s sensational new make-up line inspired by DC heroes-Batman, The Joker, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn
Revolution Beauty is back with another movie character-themed collection and this time the focus is upon the DC characters: Batman, Harley Quinn, Joker, and Catwoman. The collection is made up of a massive 19 items, ranging from £6.00 to £22.00. This collection has it all including, palettes, a makeup bag, lip glosses, and even a bat-shaped mirror. This is one exciting and ambitious collaboration, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it all!
BATMAN
Let’s start with the Batman-themed items! We have a ‘This City Needs Me’ eyeshadow Palette, that features an incredible 18 shades! These shades include the traditional batman black and yellow shades as well as a whole host of fabulous shades for all your crime-fighting needs. With shade name shades such as: ‘Bat Signal’, ‘Dark Knight’ and ‘Returns’ this palette refers to a lot of the Batman films we all love. The case is black, with the Batman motif on the front. But one eyeshadow palette is not enough because we get a second smaller Batman-themed one, that features 9 shades. These shades feature in the ‘This City Needs Me’ palette, but this compact palette is perfect for on-the-go looks.
Next, we have a lip gloss, that has some fantastic packaging with the bat motif pasted all over the lid, the shade is a clear glitter gloss that can be worn alone or as a lipstick topper. We also have an ‘I am The Night’ Mascara, in black. This mascara has a wide-angled, tapered brush which makes for an even application full of drama. Next, we have a Batman motif make-up bag, which is perfect for putting all your DC makeup into. There is also a bat-shaped mirror, which is fun and certainly matches the theme of this collection.
The final item is a ‘Bat Light’ highlighter. The packaging of this item gives me a real Batman Begins vibe, with lots of little bats swarming the Batman motif. The highlighter itself is a light gold shade, which will complement light to warm undertones. I could not recommend the Revolution highlighters more, they have a lasting shine that is easy to build up for a bolder look.
HARLEY QUINN
The Harley Quinn collection features an eyeshadow palette, lip gloss, makeup bag, and makeup sponges. The Palette features 9 shades, featuring 5 pinks, 2 blue, 1 green, and 1 white shade. These shades include shimmers, glitters, and mattes. This palette is perfect for anyone planning on nailing Harley Quinn‘s signature Pink and Blue look for Halloween. The packaging itself is manic, with writing scribbled across, feature words such as ‘Suicide Squad‘, ‘Daddy’s monster’, ‘Puddin’ and ‘Love’. The makeup bag features the same whiting pattern using a combination of blue, pink, and black. The bag features a zip with Harley’s face on. This is a plastic makeup bag which means it’s perfectly easy to keep clean.
Next, we have the lip gloss ‘What You Think I’m a Doll?’ The peach shade is subtle and not what I expected from a Harley Quinn lip gloss, this item is a little disappointing. However, I am sure the shade looks beautiful. The final item is a makeup sponge duo in Harley’s signature pink and blue, these feature an embossed image of Harley’s face.
THE JOKER
The Joker range features 3 items, an eyeshadow palette, lip gloss, and brush set. The ‘Why so Serious‘ Palette is made up of 9 bold eyeshadow shades. With the same graffiti-style packaging as the Harley Quinn items, just in red and green. I love the look of this palette. The shades are highly pigmented which makes them perfect for bold eye-catching makeup looks. Next, we have the ‘smile’ lip gloss, in a cherry red shade. Now, this gloss is perfect! And would look great for both Joker-themed looks and Harley Quinn ones.
The final item is a makeup brush set, the perfect tools to apply your new DC-themed makeup with. The set features, 5 brushes: perfect for the whole face. The brushes feature the graffiti design on the handle whereas the super soft brushes themselves are red with a green tip. They come in a black tin with the word ‘Joker’ on the front surrounded by ‘HA’s‘. The whole theming of this brush is sublime, I am a massive fan.
CATWOMAN
Finally, we have the Catwoman collection, which features 4 items. Starting with the ‘Jewel Thief‘ eye shadow palette which once again features 9 shades. These shades are muted tones, perfect for a more concealed look. The packaging features a glittery background (because she’s all about the diamonds) with the black Catwoman mask on top. Next, we have a set of flash lashes, which are obviously to make your eyes pop even when wearing a mask. The lashes a feathery for a volumized feline effect. These do not include glue, but luckily you can buy some on the revolution beauty site.
The Catwoman range also features an eyeliner, which will work perfectly with the lashes for a dramatic effect. The eyeliner comes in a black shade precision tip, making it the perfect liner to achieve a cat-eye look. I always prefer this pen-style of liner as it makes it easy to draw the lines perfectly. Finally, we have the ‘Kitty Got Claws‘ highlighter, which comes in a bronze shade, perfect for warm to deep undertones.
DC LARGE PALETTE
The final item of this massive Revolution DC Collection is a rather impressive palette that features 24 shades of eyeshadows, blushes, and highlighters. This palette uses tones from the Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Joker collection although not the bolder shades. This is certainly a more neutral palette, but that does not mean it’s boring. There is a combination of matt and shimmer tones, and this palette is a one-stop hit for all areas of the face. The packaging features a black and white image of Gotham with bats in the sky and a joker billboard. On the inside, there is a mirror and the wording ‘welcome to the city’. This palette is full of visual impact.
OVERALL
Overall, this is a fantastic collection, I am buzzing! The theming has been done to perfection, with each character getting a range of items to suit their style. The Revolution DC Collection is sure to sell out fast, and I can see why. I certainly hope this collection will expand further, I can just imagine what a poison Ivy palette will look like.
