According to reports, Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada has been tasked with bringing Nova into the MCU
At long last, Kevin Feige has greenlit the arrival of Nova in the MCU. According to Deadline, Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada has been tasked with writing the characters’ debut in live-action. Whether that’s in a Disney+ series, or a big-screen affair remains to be seen. But this is the first news we’ve heard about the character for some time.
In recent years, Nova has proven himself to be one of the standout characters in the animated and comics arenas. And now, with his popularity at an all-time high, the team at Marvel Studios has finally bit the bullet. Nova, real name Richard Rider should be one of the easier transitions from page to screen. In the comics, Rider was bestowed with the powers of Nova Prime, the leader of the planet Xandar. And with the planet already having featured in James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, the stage is already set for Nova to make a big impact on Marvel’s Phase 4.
XANDAR
Of course, in the current MCU timeline, Xandar was destroyed by Thanos during his quest to capture the Infinity Stones. So overcoming this little plot hole will be Pirzada’s first challenge. But Marvel has made a habit of jumping through time and adding new storylines, so it should be an easy task to overcome without the need for a major retcon. But either way, it all points to a wonderful new addition heading to the MCU in the near future.
Marvel’s fourth phase is already in full swing. This year alone fans can look forward to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love And Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the big screen. And that’s before we even begin to contemplate the next wave of shows heading to Disney+. First up we have Moon Knight which hits the streamer next week, then Ms. Marvel makes history by delivering the first-ever Muslim superhero. And with She-Hulk, Loki Season 2, Secret Invasion, and more heading our way, it’s a wonderful time to be a Marvel fan.
