V. Castro to bring the departed Colonial Marine back to us in a new novel from Titan Books! Plus, a first look at the cover!
I love ‘Aliens.’ I did back in 1986 and I still love it today. It was one of those rare sequels that was able to be on the same pedestal as the original, if not surpassing it. It contained a bunch of characters that we could cheer for. One of the best was Private Vasquez. Played brilliantly by actress Jenette Goldstein, she was a completely badass female character. The Smart-Gun operator sadly didn’t make it to see the end credits but the memory of her in that film still exists to this day. But what do we really know about her? Where did she come from? How did she become a member of the Colonial Marines? What is her story? Thanks to Titan Books and author V. Castro, We are about to find out.
ALIENS: VASQUEZ
October 25th sees the release of the novel ‘Aliens: Vasquez.’ V. Castro has the task of bringing us Jenette Vasquez’s backstory. Not only will we discover more about the kickass marine, but we will also discover what she left behind when she traveled to planet LV-426 where she met her death. Namely her two children, Leticia and Ramon. We will follow her children as they make their own way in the universe. And a rendezvous with the horrifying Xenomorphs themselves, the creatures that killed their mother.
THE DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK
Aliens: Vasquez is set to explore the canonical background of Vasquez, as well as the story of the children she was forced to leave behind. Even before the doomed mission to Hadley’s Hope on LV-426, Jenette Vasquez had to fight to survive. Born to an immigrant family with a long military tradition, she looked up to the stars, but life pulled her back down to Earth — first into a street gang, then prison. The Colonial Marines proved to be Vasquez’s way out — a way that forced her to give up her twin children.
Raised by Jenette’s sister, those children, Leticia and Ramon, had to discover their own ways to survive. Leticia by following her mother’s path into the military, Ramon by entering the corporate hierarchy of Weyland-Yutani. Their paths converge on an unnamed planet which some see as a potential utopia, while others would use it for highly secretive research. Whatever humans have planned for it, however, Xenomorphs will turn it into a living hell.
