Annlyel takes a closer look at the debut of Ms. Marvel on Disney+. Is she the perfect Ms. Marvel?
I wasn’t introduced to Ms. Marvel via comic books. It was in the animated series that I became somewhat familiar with the character. It was also where I realized I liked the character a lot. So when it was announced that she would be getting her own Disney+ series, I was ecstatic. And yes, the show had lived up to my expectations.
The series is a fun, refreshingly light show that is giving me that same joy that Spider-Man: Homecoming gave me. Iman Vellani is an instant MCU icon, and I absolutely cannot wait to see her journey unfold in the MCU and in real life. To know she’s going to be in The Marvels next year is so exciting!
I also can’t wait to become steeped in her world and the characters we will meet along the way in this series. I love the MCU primarily for its constant push for a diverse array of characters, and seeing this young Muslim teenager become a superhero is beautiful, to say the least. I’m so excited to see where this story takes us next week.
