Carl Weathers is Greef Karga in THE MANDALORIAN, season two, exclusively on Disney+
Star Wars hero Carl Weathers promises more action and bigger scope for his episode of The Mandalorian Season 3
Aside from blasting a few Stormtroopers as Greef Karga, Carl Weathers also pulled double duty last season on The Mandalorian. While dodging blaster fire, the legendary actor slipped into the directorial hot seat in Chapter 12 “The Siege.” And in doing so, fed his craving for directing. But with The Mandalorian Season 3 heading our way faster than the Millennium Falcon can make the Kessel Run; the legend has teased a lot more action and a bigger scope for his next assignment.
Once again in Season 3, Weathers will be slipping into Karga’s regal robes on screen. But equally as exciting, the legend will be behind the camera to help bring the story home. And he is wasting no time in ensuring we are all suitably excited. Like we needed any prompting!

BIGGER SCOPE!
While speaking with Empire, Weathers pulled back the veil of secrecy and gave us a little taste of what we can expect from his next outing behind the camera. And in contrast to his last outing, it sounds like Season 3 will be ramping up the tempo!
“Oh there was a bit more [action], I think, in this one. [It’s] a little different [to ‘The Siege’] because a lot of it had a lot more scope. But this one also had many, many different kinds of stories within the story, and that’s really nice.”
And if this isn’t enough to have us reaching for our remote to rewatch season 2, Weathers also opened up about his love of directing. Especially in the galaxy far, far away…
“This show gives you so much opportunity to deal with all these different characters,” Weathers said. “Even though they’re different episodes, it’s not like typical episodic television – it’s not a whodunnit, it’s not a dark comedy, it’s not a procedural. It’s so many different things, and it’s action-adventure on top of that. As a director, you get a chance to exercise your talent, and also your ability to deliver in those different areas.“

LOOKING AHEAD
As is always the case with Lucasfilm, details about Season 3 are a closely guarded secret. And known to only a select few of lucky individuals who sign the paychecks. However, the footage revealed at Star Wars Celebration this year teased an epic return to Mandalore. And more notably, Din Djarin seemingly on a collision course with Bo-Katan Kryze with the throne of Mandalore hanging in the balance. What this means for the future of the “MandoVerse” remains to be seen. But with these elements coupled with Carl Weathers’s tease of a bigger scale, we might be in store for something very special.
This is the way!
The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on Disney Plus in February 2023.
