Icons Unearthed: Star Wars

Get ready to explore the galaxy far, far away like never before in Icons Unearthed: Star Wars. Premiering on Amazon Freevee on October 21st!

Amazon Freevee has announced an exploration of George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away in an all-new documentary series titled Icons Unearthed: Star Wars. Similar in tone to Disney Plus’ stellar Light & Magic, the six-part docu-series will explore the Star Wars Movie Universe like never before; bringing us new insights and new perspectives on the franchise we know and love. What’s more, the series boasts new interviews with the influential figures behind the franchise including Geoge Lucas’ former wife Marcia. The exciting new series will premiere in the UK on 21st October exclusively on Amazon Freevee, Amazon’s premium free streaming service.

The series, produced by the Nacelle Company, and directed by Brian Volk-Weiss (The Toys That Made Us, Behind the Attraction, The Center Seat: 55 Years of Star Trek) consists of six one-hour episodes. So, grab your popcorn and join us as we explore what awaits us on October 21.

Icons Unearthed Star Wars


From the earliest screenplay draft to the excitement when the lights went down in the theatre, Icons Unearthed: Star Wars digs up the real story of how the most iconic media franchise in history was made. The series features a world of incredible moments, including Marcia Lucas’ first on-camera interview Lucas, an Oscar-winning film editor and former wife of George Lucas, reveals her unique insight into the rise of Lucasfilm, including her 14-year marriage and eventual divorce from George Lucas, the editing of the original Star Wars trilogy, where the idea for Darth Vader to be Luke’s father came from, and if there were really plans for nine movies. Filmed everywhere from Tunisia to England, Canada to Italy, and all 50 states, the series provides unprecedented access to the key players in the creation of the franchise.

Additional interviews in the series also include Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, Paul Hirsch, Phil Tippett, Rick Baker, Ken Ralston, John Dykstra, Howard Kazanjian, Julian Glover, Ian McDiarmid, Gus Lopez, and Tom Spina. Icons Unearthed: Star Wars is narrated by Michael Pennington, who portrayed Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod in Return of the Jedi.

The Icons Unearthed: Star Wars documentary series is executive produced by Brian Volk-Weiss, Cisco Henson, Ian Roumain, Alyssa Michek, and Ben Frost. Directed by Volk-Weiss, Icons Unearthed: Star Wars will be like no other documentary you’ve ever seen before.


We Star Wars fans are eating extremely well this year.
