“Star Wars Andor teaches patience like a good Jedi would aspire to have. You need to listen to the slow talk so you can get to the fun!” says Max Nocerino in his review
The prison break we’ve been waiting for has finally begun. Cassian Andor has convinced Kino to stage an uprising in the prison as it is brutally clear that an Imperial prison is just a revolving door and no prison “sentence” will ever be over. The Imperial prison system had me marveling at just how awful the Empire was. And even though many good people think the Empire is also good and ordered – they are DEAD wrong.
Cassian can cause a diversion during the replacement of the passing of Ulaf, and we see many prisoners die as the meager security force tries to contain them. 5,000 prisoners and only a handful of guards. That’s the thermal exhaust port of this Death Star! I admire that Andor did NOT kill when he didn’t have to. This is because I felt his “bloodthirsty” behavior made him an unsavory hero that you would not root for. Andy Serkis shines in his role as Kino. He has a deep, commanding voice. And when he shouts, you can’t help but listen.

CLOAK AND DAGGER SUBPLOTS
The B, C, D, and E stories are moving at the now-expected snail’s pace. Mon is trying to acquire funds for the fledging rebellion. Luthen puts his soul on the table and expresses how much being a Rebel truly matters to him. He has a mole in ISB and the audience is now aware that he is being hunted. Dedra is making very little headway at finding him and all these little threads are woven into the magnificent fabric that is this show.

I had my eyes glued to the screen as I watched the prison break and the other threads served mainly as falling action. With two episodes to go in this season, I wonder what big finale Gilroy has in store for us. This show teaches patience like a good Jedi would aspire to have. You need to listen to the slow talk so you can get to the fun. What a lovely little treat.
8.5 out of 10 Death Stars.
