Netflix has shared the intense new launch trailer for Scott Cooper’s The Pale Blue Eye – streaming on January 6, 2023, and in select theaters on December 23, 2022
Today, Netflix has shared the intense full trailer for Scott Cooper’s The Pale Blue Eye. The gothic horror is the latest attempt to chronicle the adventures of the legendary poet Edgar Allan Poe and follows Christian Bale’s Augustus Landor as he uncovers a new murder mystery. Poe’s adventures were recently showcased in Shudder’s impressive Raven’s Hollow, a solid horror flick that earned a four-star rating from me. But now, Netflix has upped the ante by casting Christian Bale as its lead.
The suitably intense and atmospheric new movie looks to be one of the standout hits of Netflix’s post-Christmas slate. And with its intense and mysterious storyline, the film looks like a shoo-in hit the right notes with movie lovers everywhere. What’s more, the soundtrack has been composed by Howard Shore, the legendary composer of Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. And his involvement only adds weight to the prestige delivered by the film’s standout cast. But don’t take my word for it. Check out the official launch trailer below.
West Point, 1830. In the early hours of a grey winter morning, a cadet is found dead. But after the body arrives at the morgue, tragedy becomes savagery when it’s discovered that the young man’s heart has been skilfully removed. Fearing irreparable damage to the fledgling military academy, its leaders turn to a local detective, Augustus Landor (Christian Bale), to solve the murder. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, Landor enlists the help of one of their own to pursue the case, an eccentric cadet with a disdain for the rigours of the military and a penchant for poetry—a young man named Edgar Allan Poe (Harry Melling).
