This week on The Official Film Chart, M3gan comes calling, and the Easter Bunny decides to Hop in, but its Avatar: The Way Of Water that splashes its way into the top spot!

THE OFFICIAL CHART
The top ten this week gets a major shakeup finally. We have two new entries, and two re-entries into the placings. This means there’s no longer any room for Cocaine Bear, John Wick, John Wick-Chapter Two, or Black Adam. Plus we have a brand new number one. And it isn’t a surprise to discover what it is. AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER SWIMS STRAIGHT TO THE TOP SPOT!
Avatar: The Way of Water earns the biggest debut of 2023 so far as it soars to Number 1 on the Official Film Chart. With sales in excess of 160,000 just on digital downloads, the long-awaited sequel to 2009’s Avatar scores the biggest first week for a film since Top Gun: Maverick in August 2022.
MATILDA IS OFF THE TOP AGAIN!
Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical drops one place to Number 2.
ELVIS ROCKS BACK UP THE CHART AGAIN!
Elvis enjoys a surge up the chart to Number 3. (Read our review here.)
HOP HOPS INTO NUMBER FOUR!
As families enjoy the Easter holidays, Hop returns to the Top 10 at Number 4, a brand new peak for the 2011 animated adventure led by Russell Brand and James Marsden among a star-studded voice cast.
MAVERICK LOSES POWER!
Top Gun: Maverick loses power as it falls two places to number 5. (Read our review here.)
M3GAN WANTS TO BE YOUR (KILLER) FRIEND AT NUMBER SIX!
Our second new entry this week comes from M3GAN, which debuts at Number 6. The Sci-fi horror quickly became a cult favorite upon its cinematic release and enters the chart on digital downloads only. (Read our review here.)
A MAN CALLED OTTO FALLS AWAY!
Dropping five places is former Number 1 A Man Called Otto, which drops to number 7.
BABYLON DANCES UP A PLACE!
Babylon rises a place this week to number 8. (Read our review here.)
WHITNEY WANTS TO DANCE WITH SOMEBODY AGAIN!
Biographical drama Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody re-enters the Top 10 after rising seven places to number 9.
PUSS IN BOOTS ON HIS LAST WISH!
Finally, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish floats down five to Number 10.
TIME TO GET OUT OF THE POOL!
And that is the top ten for this week. There isn’t much that will trouble Avatar: The Way Of Water at the top for a few weeks. So, it should have an easy time at number one. But until next week…
